Articles on Shared Service Facility (SSF) for  Technology  Improvement  Facility for  the  Bamboo  Industry

The bamboo craft industry of Abut Farmers Bamboo Crafts has been a source of added family income. Moreover, since 2003, the bamboo craft weavers have been making baskets, winnower and other bamboo handicrafts.

There is an abundant supply of raw materials in the barangay. However, with the increasing number of competitors, members of the association intend to add products like fashion bags and placemats. Aside from improving the design of the existing products, the Barangay Abut, San Fernando City, La Union Farmers Assoication, Inc. continues to undergo various trainings and seminars from the Local Government of San Fernando City and other government agencies to upgrade their manpower skills in manufacturing various bamboo products.

The absence of tools and equipment hampers the association from expanding their target markets inside and outside the Province of La Union. However, through SSF project, the crafters was able to meet the growing measure and quality of product.
